OrangeHRM Certified Administrators
Coming to an end of another flourishing year for OrangeHRM, we are happy to reminiscence the many successfully completed training programs that were conducted throughout this year.
Our training sessions have not only produced individuals who are qualified to make the best of the OrangeHRM system, but also those who would give in their best as skilled HR Personnel.
With the growing number of OrangeHRM users in Indonesia, another on-site training was conducted along with OrangeHRM’s local partner, Titus Permadi. The event was organized with a local media partner, Galamedia which greatly contributed to making this event a success.
The next session is being planned to be held in Bali, tentatively in February.
Be an OrangeHRM Certified Administrator

Last but not the least the admin module has been re-engineered with a list of many improvements and also adjustments that were needed to make it more user-friendly.
2011 has been all about getting the complete product under the symfony framework. Although this may sound a bit technical now the system enables easier upgrades to future releases while enabling a better plug-in architecture allowing members from the community to develop additions to the system.

A few vulnerability issues were identified in OrangeHRM version 2.6.11, by a company named Advisory Htbridge Ch and these issues were analyzed and fixed in an immediate release, OrangeHRM 2.6.11.2.
The following vulnerability issues were identified:
- Input passed via the “uniqcode” GET parameter to index.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user.
- Input passed via the “isAdmin” GET parameter to index.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user.
- Input appended to the URL after /lib/controllers/centralcontroller.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user.
- Input passed via the “id” GET parameter to /lib/controllers/centralcontroller.php is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query.
We are thankful to those who identified and reported these issues to OrangeHRM. OrangeHRM is looking forward to hear from such 3rd party organizations which carry out independent testing on our product and help us immensely to build a system with minimum issues.

Among the emerging HRM practices, Video interviewing or Virtual Interviewing has taken precedence in the market place. OrangeHRM will provide BSI’s state-of-the-art Int-R-View Portfolio SaaS talent acquisition solution with online job application, resume upload, and video interviewing.
Best Practices for Using Video Interviewing for Recruiting
Video interviewing can dramatically improve a company’s recruiting process. The benefits of video interviewing can be numerous and can include: accelerated time to hire, reduced cost of hire, increased quality of hires, expanded hiring pool, improved candidate satisfaction and retention, simplified consideration process, improved compliance, and more.
In terms of best practices for using video interviewing in recruiting, we have learned that companies see the best results when they:
- Make recording a video interview a required, and not optional, part of the application process. We found that it is best if this is clearly stated in the job posting as well as the job application.
- Design the online job application with sorting criteria to help sort applicants based on required or desired qualifications for the job.
- Arrange the video interview process to immediately (without interrupt or delay) follow the job application and resume submission so applicants understand how important the video interview is in the decision process. Following this process, applicants will be compelled and motivated to record an interview which is advantageous for the recruiter / employer.
- Carefully craft the interview questions. The questions asked in the interview system should be relevant to the position and reveal the applicant’s skills in a way that is meaningful to the recruiter and hiring manager. It is also recommended that applicants be requested to provide specific examples in their video responses.
- Establish a time limit for each response. The amount of time given to answer each question should not add up to more than 5-7 minutes. Brevity is important in getting to the point. We recommend 5-7 questions with no more than 1 minute allowed per response.
OrangeHRM Video Interviewing will be available as a plug-in in the OrangeHRM Market Place.

Country based settings were a frequent request throughout the last year; this includes date format configurability and language selection. OrangeHRM 2.6.11 comprises both these options, provided that for the language selection, the respective language files are placed in the system. Language packs can be created by following the instructions on this guide.
In addition to these releases, save time when populating employee data into the Personal Information Management (PIM) module by using the CSV data import option. This basic CSV data import tool allows HR Administrators to populate personal and contact details of employees into the system.
